"No one likes to hear this, but it's true: if you don't move, you die... eventually. Exercise fundamentally changes every system and function in your body. Unfortunately, very few people now exercise enough. In June 2007, a poll showed that 35 percent of Americans didn't exercise at all, or at most once a week, with approximately the same percentage considered clinically obese. Hmm. Throw in another 25 percent who said that they exercised a total of 60-90 minutes a week -- the barest minimum of a routine -- and you're looking at approximately 60 percent of people who don't get enough exercise, about the same percentage that qualifies as overweight in the United States. You can see a direct correlation between lack of sufficient exercise and excess weight, but the importance of exercise goes far beyond obesity."
