Scientists have managed to cure mice of behavioural symptoms of Down syndrome, taking them closer to a cure in humans. The breakthrough came after the discovery a protein, known as SNX27, which is lacking in the brains of humans with Down syndrome. When the protein was restored in mice, their learning, memory and cognitive function improved.
